Advocacy

Helping individuals is essential to our identity as an organization, but creating lasting, systemic change that will impact entire communities and societies is also a part of our ongoing mission.  That's why we're proud to announce the creation of a new advocacy division of Hollywood Remembers, which seeks to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with HIV and AIDS and create lasting systemic changes to remove these obstacles.

Over the past year, we've worked to build partnerships with the S.M.A.R.T. Continuum to help parolees to avoid contracting HIV; Partnered with the LA County Sheriff's Department to advocate for for prison reform and increase education on HIV in the prison system; and publicly advocated for legislative change in California to address some of the most pressing issues that affect marginalized communities and communities at heightened risk for HIV.
