About Us

Mission Statement:

Hollywood Remembers and honors those affected by HIV and AIDS,
both past and present, living and dead.

We educate those at high risk of infection, especially those marginalized by social and economic forces.

We advocate for legal, social, and economic justice for those whose voices are silenced by public stigma and internalized non-acceptance or shame.

We assist those living with HIV and AIDS today.

When the world forgets, Hollywood Remembers

Hollywood Remembers was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in August 2008. Our mission is to honor and remember the lives of those lost to AIDS through service to those who live with, and continue the fight against HIV today.

Hollywood Remembers is unique among HIV/AIDS service organizations in that we are an all-volunteer organization focused on serving the most marginalized in our society – specifically youth, prisoners, ex-offenders, and the homeless.

Each December since 2007, we have held a memorial celebration on World AIDS Day which includes artists, musicians, and an exhibition of panels of the National AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Recognizing the unique history of Hollywood, we have produced an original musical drama, “Red Ribbon.” And in observance of the 30th Anniversary of the discovery of HIV, we produced a feature documentary film on the early responders to the AIDS crisis, “Voices from the Fray: Celebrating the Unsung Heroes.”

In 2012, Hollywood Remembers mapped a more ambitious strategy for education and advocacy on HIV/AIDS issues. We have launched a speaker’s bureau with educational seminars; a governmental advocacy strategy to help reform the criminal justice system as it relates to HIV/AIDS and condoms; and are currently creating a pilot project to offer free HIV testing services at local youth centers and homeless shelters.
